There were so many fun cakes the last few months!  I want to wish Zach a special congratulations on his great achievement of making Eagle Scout -- the highest rank in the Boy Scouts.  Way to go, Zach!  I was also honored to be asked to create a cherry blossom cake to celebrate Contour Airlines' inaugural flight from Tampa International Airport to Macon, Georgia.  The blossoms represent Macon's annual Cherry Blossom Festival, of which Petals the Poodle is mascot. Best of luck on this exciting news.  And finally the Alice in Wonderland cake was my last one of 2018.  It was ordered for a Christmas Eve murder mystery party -- "Who Killed Tweedle Dee?" What fun!

Happy summer, friends! It has been a busy few months.  Congratulations to this year's high school graduates as they prepare to take their first steps into their adult lives.  I wish each of you Godspeed as you embark on your new adventure. 

Every cake I make is somewhat special to me, but recently I had the privilege of making a cake for a very special young lady whose family I have known for some time.  As I made each element of the cake, she was on the forefront of my mind. They ordered the cake to celebrate the completion of the young girl's chemo treatments.  The bell is symbolic of the one that is rung three times at the end of treatment.  The butterflies are symbolic of the transformation she would go through on the journey to wellness.  Written in gold are words of inspiration and encouragement that helped her fight and finally, the gold ribbon is to bring awareness to childhood cancer.  This young lady is the epitome of strength and courage -- a mighty hero in a small package.  And despite her illness, she somehow managed to help raise thousands of dollars for the National Pediatric Foundation. It gives me great joy and pride to say that after a long 2-1/2 year battle, she won.  My family and I wish her continued good health.

Summer flew by and here it is getting close to Christmas.  How did that happen?  The last few months have kept me in the kitchen -- and not just making decorated cakes.  I had a lot of fun making homemade ice cream and a Japanese  Souffle Cake with Cherry Compote.  Have a look at the cakes and other goodies that have been keeping me busy.  Which one is your favorite?

School is out and summertime is here!  Congratulations to this year's graduates! It's exciting to hear your stories and it makes me proud to know you. I wish you all the best as you begin new chapters in your lives.  But in the meantime, enjoy your summer, have fun with your friends and families and make lots of memories to take with you.  Oh, and eat cake.  Lots of cake!

Spring is definitely in full swing and it sure has been busy!  I had so many fun cakes over the last few months.  Cakes aren't just for birthdays and weddings anymore.
